Mark Chesson & Sons
In 1962, Mark Chesson decided that the Chesson family should put their talents to use serving the farming community- the largest industry in eastern NC. Transitioning from an auto repair/radiator shop, Mark Chesson and Sons opened as the Allis Chalmers dealer in Williamston, NC.
The first Mark Chesson and Sons' shop was housed in mule stables in downtown Williamston. In 1965, they moved to the sweet potato building down the street for more operating space. The final move occurred in 1974 when the family relocated to their permanent location on Chesson Drive. Urban renewal moved them out into the "suburbs" of Williamston where they were the first farm equipment dealer on the" main drag" through town. To this day, you can see tractors driving through town on the way to the farm, warehouse or home.
